How to Optimise your Blog/website

  • Sumo

Optimising the pages of your site for maximum SEO performance and maximum rankings. Optimise each individual page to be 100% relevant to the Keyword. The first step for ensuring that Google (and other search engines) associate your site with the desired keyword is to place the keyword in the title of the page. Using the keyword or phrase in the title tells Google that it is one of the main subjects of the site, which makes it more relevant. If you have a dynamic site (Word Press, Joomla, etc.), put the phrase as a constant prefix to the titles of all your pages. Use the main keyword for your web page in headings or texts in a big font.
The bigger the font, the more important the keyword is perceived in
relation to the other text of your page. Doing this makes Google perceive your site as more relevant to your chosen keyword.
Keyword Density
Keyword density is the frequency in which your keyword appears in the text Of the site. Generally, the more frequent your keyword appears in the site, the more relevant your page is to that keyword .But be careful as it is easy to abuse this rule and be punished by Google:
you keyword density should be slightly above normal in order for your site to appear higher. BUT…Using the keyword too frequently leads to two potential consequences:

1. Your visitors abandon your site as it is not readable. Repeating the same keyword all over is not normal and can decrease your traffic.
2. Google Bans You. Google identifies an attempt to artificially inflate
rankings which can actually hurt your rankings.

So do not abuse this rule – restrict yourself to using the desired keyword at maximum of 3 to 4% of the text or roughly every two paragraphs.
Avoid using Flash
Search engines cannot understand Flash graphics, so if you can, you should avoid using flash in the major content parts of your site that you want Google to read and show in search results. If you are using Flash, consider adding a HTML version so search engine crawlers (and visitors with old Web Browsers) can read and index your site. This will be better for site visitors and your ranking

Avoid Frames
Frames are very hard for crawlers to interpret correctly, and using some can hurt your rankings as some of the content will not be indexed correctly. Moreover, search engines can mistakenly refer users to one of the frames, so users arrive at your frame instead of your main site.
If you don’t know what a frame is, don’t worry about it. Most sites don’t
even use them anymore, so the chances are your site doesn’t contain

Avoid Duplicate Content

Duplicate content is a big no-no in terms of search engine optimisation.
Still, webmasters and site owners still copy articles from free sources like, without understanding the negative side-effects.
Duplicate content is usually not showed in Google results, as it shows only the first version and avoids any copied versions. You may copy articles, but keep them at maximum of 5% of your TOTAL WEBSITE content. Many newcomers make the mistake of abusing the techniques in order to maximise their rankings quickly, eventually achieving the opposite results. Make sure to read all these techniques and understand what their benefits are.

Interlink between Pages
A great technique that can highly increase your indexing speed and your
rankings is interlinking between pages. This means that you put links
between your content pages. Note that I don’t refer to menu as -a -interlink, but a link from the content itself.
